Sasha is a biracial Chinese, Russian, and English creative based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. He’s closing in on over half a decade of experience in the film and television industry, specialising in narrative, documentary, branded content, and commercial film productions.
Before pursuing filmmaking, Sasha started off active in the freelance photography space, where he practiced studio, portrait & street photography. Although not his primary focus anymore Sasha is still available for commercial and editorial commissions & hire.
He’s a recognised filmmaker and artist, achieving the title of DUX in Unit 1/2 & 3/4 Media. His short film, ‘Maybe, I’m Not Okay’, which premiered at the Beaconhills College Berwick CR8 exhibition, was submitted for consideration in the VCE 2024 season of excellence within Top Screens.
Not only a working creative, Sasha is also the founder and creative director at Nazza Wazza, an independent narrative driven film production company based out of Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
After completing and gaining his VCE certificate in 2023, Sasha has decided to pursue a further education in the film and television industry through tertiary level studies. He is currently undertaking his final year of study within the Bachelor of Screen & Media course at the Australian College of the Arts, or more commonly known as Collarts.
Sasha has collaborated with clients nationwide to deliver content. Weather in the commercial and corporate space where he’s worked with notable brands & companies such as Urban.com.au, OSK Property, Melbourne Square, Traffic Radius, Vedi.io, Projects by Buxton or through collaboration on set, creating and visualising works through short films, documentaries and episodic narratives.
In 2022-2023, Sasha undertook work experience & internship with Australia’s leading real estate listing platform, assisting the video production team at Urban.com.au (Appartments.com.au) to produce, distribute and edit content for clients on their platform.
Some of his most notably recognised work has been in the form of contributions within over a dozen short films, multiple narrative documentaries, web series, experimental narrative shorts, advertisements, TVC’s, branded content and events.
Sasha is currently adapting his 2022 proof-of-concept documentary “Australia A New Home”, into a short documentary production titled, Teach Me How To Cry. Alongside this, he is working on his next major short film, Bābā (爸爸), which will be completed as part of his graduate capstone project at The Australian College of the Arts (Collarts).
